ABOUT US

Jonathan Trask is a devoted husband and father, serving as a Family Pastor and a deep follower of Christ with a wealth of knowledge and experience spanning over eighteen years in children's, youth, and family ministry.

Growing up in difficult and confusing circumstances, Jonathan found solace in the fantastical imaginary worlds of his childhood. As a result, he developed a passion for creating playful imaginative worlds himself. His life took a transformative turn when he encountered the life-changing truth of the gospel through a creative camp program during his teenage years. As life continued so did its harsh realities. But instead of disappearing into imaginary worlds, he faced the storms with the knowledge of Christ. He met his sweet wife Sarah at a bible college in Southern California, and after Jonathan spent three years training to become a firefighter, Sarah and Jonathan followed the call to enter full-time ministry. Sense following their call, they have used their creative gifts and hearts for children, youth, and families to develop impactful ministry programs for both camps and churches. They have two children, Aurora & Wesley, whom they deeply love and have been the core motivation behind this project.

Jonathan is the sole creator of Bits of Light. He is both author and illustrator. Jonathan is currently working on a Masters in Christian Ministry from Southern California Seminary and serves as the Associate Pastor at Twin Peaks Community Church in Twin Peaks, CA. His goal is to transform this concept into a high quality tool that helps children and families understand the true life-giving message of the gospel.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

God the Father

God is holy, beautiful, and worthy of praise. Only in Him can the true fullness of life be found. He is all that was, all that is, and all that will ever be. He is the eternal, uncreated Creator and upholds all of creation by the power of His Word. (Revelation 4:11; Nehemiah 9:6; Colossians 1:16-20)

God the Son

Jesus was with God from the beginning. He is the living Word, the divine message of the Father, sharing the same nature. Born of a virgin, He is God in human form, known as the Son of God. He lived a holy and sinless life and died as a propitiation for the sins of the world, defining the true meaning of love. He rose from the dead, conquering death and proving His divine nature, then ascended to be with the Father in heaven. He will eventually physically return to earth to judge wickedness and establish His kingdom in the fullness of its beauty. (John 1:1-2, 14; Colossians 1:15; Isaiah 7:14; 1 John 2:2; Acts 1:9-11; Revelation 19:11-16)

God the Spirit

The Spirit convicts our conscience and provides guidance, counsel, and comfort, bringing rest to our souls. The Spirit renews our minds, pours the light of Christ into our hearts, and helps us grow in spiritual knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. (John 15:26; John 16:13-14; Romans 12:2; 1 Corinthians 2:10-13)

The Father, Son, and Spirit are the one eternal God. They are "Three in One," the Trinity.

(Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 John 1:5; Ephesians 5:9; James 1:17)

The Bible

All Scripture is God-breathed and testifies to the redemptive history of all creation. It is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteous living. When rightly interpreted in the fullness of its context, the Bible is known as the written Word of God.

(2 Timothy 3:16; Romans 15:4; Hebrews 4:12)

The Gospel

The Gospel is a life-giving message and the only power unto salvation. As believers, we are called to understand, obey, and hold tightly to the prophetic message of the Gospel, as it reminds us of our hope in Christ, who is the true light that shines in the darkness and the morning star that dawns in our hearts.

(Romans 1:16; John 14:6; 1 Peter 1:23-25; 2 Peter 1:19)

The Family

The natural order of the family, as established in creation and confirmed in Scripture, consists of a husband, wife, and children. The husband is called to love, honor, serve, care for, and support his wife. In turn, the wife is called to love, honor, serve, care for, and support her husband. Their relationship is sacred and must be nurtured and protected, as it is the foundation of the family.

Fathers and mothers are entrusted with the responsibility to love, shepherd, and protect their children, raising them in the wisdom and instruction of the Lord. Children are called to love, honor, respect, listen to, and obey their parents, as this pleases the Lord and fosters harmony within the home.

Together, the family submits to the message of Christ, being bound in the love of the Spirit and growing in joy, peace, wisdom, and all other virtues. This fulfills God's purpose for the family, which is designed to shine His light to the world.

(Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:25-31; Matthew 19:4-6; Colossians 3:14-21; 1 Peter 3:7; Proverbs 31:10-12; Ephesians 6:4; Colossians 3:21; Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Ephesians 6:1-3; Proverbs 1:8-9; Galatians 5:22-23)
